Welcome to EMEALS.com!!!

One of my goals of getting healthy is to start cooking for my family. I have found that I can not do this on my own. This past week alone we went out (pretty much) everynight and spent $100 on fast food. WHAT?!?! How can you see that and not change? Well, I decided to try.
A couple of my friends have told me about a meal planning program that delivers right to your email! I decided to check it out. I visited EMEALS.com and did some research and thought, hmmm.. maybe this is just what I need. I signed up for 3 months of the "classic" dinner plan and did an add on of the lunch plan.
(You can choose different meal plans: low fat, low carb, classic, clean eating, paleo etc. You also choose which grocery store you shop at and they will go off of the sales for that week before choosing your meal plan. The cost of the food is included for you to assist with your budget!)
Each week I will receive an email that will have my dinners, ingredients needed, recipes, and grocery list! Wow, easy! I have tried meal planning in the past and always quickly failed at it. I never knew where to start and would spend hours trying to come up with something and then wouldn't end up cooking anything.
I printed off this weeks plans and went through them and had my husband star the ones he thought sounded good and X out the ones he didn't even want to try. I then chose 4 of them to start with and headed to the grocery store last night... by myself! What a special "me" treat. I usually like going with my whole famiy to the grocery store, but was excited to go by myself because I knew with all new foods it would take longer.
There were 3 items I could not locate, but then looked again at the grocery list provided and they had them separated into different categories dairy, meat, packaged etc. And I then found the items.
Today while I was making lunch for the girls and me, I decided I better look at what all I was going to have to do tonight for supper. Good thing I did because I found that what I was making was a crock-pot meal and needed to be prepared 8 hours before hand.
This was my first time EVER using a crock-pot! Crazy, I know! I don't even know where our crock-pot came from - maybe a wedding gift?

So CUBE STEAK was our first adventure in EMEALS.

Ingredients Needed: 
1 can cream of mushroom soup
3/4 c water
1 envelope dried beefy onion soup mix
2 lbs cubed steaks

You mix together the soup, water, and onion soup mix.

I have to admit after adding water this looked like something that came up after not tasting so great... I was getting nervous about how this would turn out!

Make sure you layer the soup mix and the meat!

Cook on low 8-10 hours.

Later that day my husband was hungry and so I prepared our sides... potatoes, salad, and veggies!

We sat at the table together tonight - one of my favorite things about cooking. We prayed thanking God for filling our fridge, cabinets, and bellies. He is our provider. I thanked my husband for working and asked God for help to continue cooking for my family.

Then my daughter said something I wasn't expecting....... "THIS IS YUMMY!!!!" Woohoooo! Majoro success. First time cooking "steak and potatoes" and I even went back for seconds for my veggies. Kairi did think she was eating "hamburger" and asked where her bread was. Hey, whatever works!! She even ate several bites of her carrots and broccoli!

  3. Thank you for this recipe. With our busy lives and schedules I've been teurnung to easy. Rickoot meals while we work. I was just wondering how much water do you addto these ingredients?

    1. 3/4 c of water! So sorry for leaving out that information in the original post! I am definitely a newbie cook and forgot the important stuff! :)

  4. so do you mix the cream of mushroom soup and the Lipton onion soup together with one can of water and layer the cube steaks in? How exactly do you PREPARE this recipe? and how long did you cook it for??

    1. I have updated the original blog post to include all this information. I am sorry for leaving it out of the original post! And yes, your comment was exactly right. It calls to be cooked on low for 8-10 hours. But I believe I cooked it for 6 and it was done.

  7. Geesh! Give her a break! Lol! I do this same recipe, however sometimes will throw in a chuck or a rump roast , pour the soups on top with some potatoes and carrots and viola.... a pot roast!! So yummy!!! Good luck to you!!

  9. Mine turned out to salty. Any suggestions on how to cut the saltiness? I'm assuming it's from the beefy onion soup.
