I'll be honest. I don't look at the news. EVER. I'm not on Facebook so I miss out on what all is going on around the world. I know a lot of people don't agree with me and think I am hiding my head in the sand. Or living with the motto: "ignorance is bliss." But can I be honest again? I'm ok with that. The news scares the crap out of me.
I don't want to fill my mind with all the craziness that is going on. I mean there is some really scary, bad, evil stuff out there. And I do know it's out there; I'm not being naive about it.
However, I try to plug my ears and eyes when the worldly news jumps in front of my face, but yesterday I happened onto some of the latest news before I could not read it. And I can not understand it. At all. Usually my automatic response is fear and then I can not sleep and anxiety takes over me.
I posted yesterday some Scripture that spoke to me and I am thankful that I took the time to meditate on those verses in the morning because when I saw darkness, I was able to cover it with light.
Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light. But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is! Matthew 6:22-23
The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch over the wicked and the good. Proverbs 15:3
These verses helped me put my focus above instead of on fear. The one who is Light is near us, keeping watch over us. So, I decided to take a few steps to be prepared and act out of wisdom, not fear.
We have to fill up with the Truth! With the Light! I have decided to not just not watch the news, but fill up with all the Truth and Light I can because I believe that's the way I can fight the darkness.
Let's take our Spiritual Swords (The Bible) out today!
